Patients have recurrent abdominal pain, anorexia and weight loss. The pain is epigastric, and diarrhea or constipation may be present as well. Onset of pain will usually, although not always, be after food intake, and may be associated with nausea and emesis. Other symptoms may include lassitude, exercise intolerance and vomiting. Occasionally, a patient may show an abdominal murmur upon auscultation.","GARD_Name__c":"Celiac trunk compression syndrome","GARD_Synonym__c":"celiac artery compression syndrome; dunbar syndrome; mals; median arcuate ligament syndrome","Curated_Disease_Description_Source__c":"GARD:0012308","Curated_Disease_Description__c":"Celiac artery compression syndrome is a rare disorder characterized by chronic, recurrent abdominal pain related to compression of the celiac artery (which supplies blood to the upper abdominal organs) by the median arcuate ligament (a muscular fibrous band of the diaphragm). It usually presents with symptoms of abdominal pain, weight loss, and an abdominal bruit (abnormal sound of a blood vessel when blocked or narrowed). The cause is not fully understood; however, it is suspected that there could be a combination of vascular (blood supply) and neurogenic (neurological) components involved. Diagnosis is usually confirmed with imaging such as CT angiography, MRI, ultrasound, and arteriography.","Curated_USA_Estimate_Source__c":null,"Curated_USA_Estimate__c":null,"Age_at_Onset_Snippet_Text__c":"at a variety of ages","SourceID__c":"ORPHA:293208","Deprecated__c":"No","Disease_Concept_Type__c":"Rare Disease Entity","MONDO_ID__c":"MONDO:0017388","ORPHANET_ID__c":"ORPHA:293208","Replaced_By_ID__c":null,"Display_Spanish_Disease_Name__c":"Síndrome de compresión de la arteria celíaca","Spanish_Description_Source__c":"ORPHA:293208","Spanish_Description__c":"Es una enfermedad poco frecuente causada por la compresión del eje celíaco por el ligamento arcuato de forma anómala (parte del diafragma en la que ambos pilares se unen en la línea media alrededor de la aorta).
