T-cell large granular lymphocyte leukemia causes a slow increase in white blood cells called T lymphocytes, or T cells, which originate in the lymph system and bone marrow and help to fight infection. This disease usually affects people in their sixties. Symptoms include anemia; low levels of platelets (thrombocytopenia) and infection-fighting neutrophils (neutropenia) in the blood; and an enlarged spleen. About one-third of patients are asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis. The exact cause of LGL leukemia is unknown. Doctors can diagnose this disease through a bone marrow biopsy, or by using a specialized technique in which various types of blood or bone marrow cells are separated, identified, and counted.","Curated_USA_Estimate_Source__c":null,"Curated_USA_Estimate__c":"5,000","Age_at_Onset_Snippet_Text__c":"as an Adult","SourceID__c":"ORPHA:86872","Deprecated__c":"No","Disease_Concept_Type__c":"Rare Disease Entity","MONDO_ID__c":"MONDO:0019469","ORPHANET_ID__c":"ORPHA:86872","Replaced_By_ID__c":null,"Display_Spanish_Disease_Name__c":"Leucemia linfocítica granular de células t grandes","Spanish_Description_Source__c":"ORPHA:86872","Spanish_Description__c":"La leucemia de linfocitos grandes granulares de células T (LLGG de células T) es una neoplasia linfoproliferativa maligna que surge del linaje de células T maduras (CD3+).","Spanish_Disease_Name__c":"leucemia linfocítica granular de células t grandes","Spanish_GARD_Synonym__c":"leucemia lgl de células t; proliferación de linfocitos granulares grandes; t-lgl","Category_Linearization__c":"ORPHA:250908","icd10_id__c":null,"mesh_id__c":null,"omim_id__c":null,"snomed_id__c":null,"umls_id__c":null,"GARD_Disease__c":[{"Curated_Disease_Description__c":"T-cell large granular lymphocyte leukemia is a rare cancer of a type of white blood cells called lymphocytes.
