Yes. A schwannoma that develops in the ear is called an acoustic neuroma or vestibular schwannoma. Signs and symptoms of a vestibular schwannoma include hearing loss in one ear (unilateral hearing loss), a ringing sound in one ear (tinnitus), and/or dizziness (vertigo). Up to 50% of individuals with a vestibular schwannoma experience vertigo, but it is usually not the first symptom.
