Most published case studies indicate that cyclic vomiting syndrome(CVS) lasts an average of 2.5 to 5.5 years. Many cases resolve in late childhood or early adolescence. A few patients continue to have symptoms into adulthood. Many children with CVS progress from vomiting episodes to abdominal migraines and then to migraine headaches during adolescence.
