A study by Vermaat H et al in 2008 suggested that patients with lichen sclerosus and other types of vulval or anogenital skin conditions may have a higher rate of positive reaction to skin tests involving spices and flavorings. Older reports suggest that diets that help lower the acidity in the urine may be of benefit to female patients with genital symptoms. The results of these early reports have not been reproduced. At this time, there are no dietary recommendations for people with lichen sclerosus.
