Yes. Olivopontocerebellar atrophy (OPCA) is associated with dementia, cognitive deficits, and emotional disturbances in some patients. In particular, studies have shown people with OPCA to have an increased rate of depression, anxiety, and bodily complaints. These symptoms are also present in some people with multiple system atrophy (MSA). While many people with OPCA do progress to MSA, these symptoms alone are not a predictor for disease progression.
