Can my cafe au lait spots be removed with laser surgery?

Although cafe au lait spots do not require medical treatment, laser surgery has been used to remove them for cosmetic reasons. However, people who have undergone this surgery have experienced variable results; some showed complete removal of multiple cafe au lait spots, whereas others had a return of the spots following surgery. Because of the variable response to this treatment, the risks, benefits, and limitations of laser surgery should always be discussed with a physician.[1]
