The NIH Undiagnosed Diseases Network (UDN) plans to expand from seven to 12 clinical sites, increasing the geographical distribution of the nationwide network and the number of people with access to the UDN. Since 2015, the network has already diagnosed over 200 cases that had long been mysteries to the medical community. In addition, the UDN will create a new metabolomics core and increase model organism capabilities. Both of these are integral to rare disease diagnosis and discovery.
