Global Unique Identifier (GUID)

A Global Unique Identifier (GUID) is a computer-generated alphanumeric code that is unique to each research participant. A GUID protects personally identifiable information (Pll) and enables de-identified data from one person to be integrated and tracked over time across multiple projects, databases, and biobanks.
Through the RaDaR program, NCATS provides complimentary software that registry owners can download to generate the GUID. Registry owners can access the GUID software or request a new account.
